Below is an extensive Q&A we hope you find valuable and gives you an insight into the quality of work you can expect from this vendor.
8 Beautiful Years! Since 2012
I photograph a mix of photojournalism and what I call “posed photojournalism.” My goal is that all of my images look natural and have life to them. Since most of my couples are not used to being in front of the camera, I direct them on where to stand and how to pose, but I wait for natural expression between the couple before I capture the image. It’s the best of both worlds!
I like to be given free rein for the most part. However, if someone has a particular shot in mind they really want, I want to know that! It’s not a problem to incorporate a few specific shots.
I primarily shoot weddings. However, I also photograph boudoir and glamour portraits.
Yes, I help my clients create a timeline about 3 months prior to the wedding that maps out what the photography portion of the day will look like with times and location details. After the wedding I also send out follow up correspondence so my clients know what’s next and what to expect.
I usually meet a couple face to face about 2 times prior to the wedding. If we do an engagement session together, we will meet face to face about 4 times.
Yes! I am always prepared for the unknown. In my camera bag I have extra Canon camera bodies and lens- all professional grade. Additionally, I also photograph with two memory cards. That way, if something happens to one of the cards, I always have a back up.
My pricing is structured as a flat rate based on how many hours of coverage I am photographing on your wedding day.
All of my wedding packages include my time and talent on your wedding day, all your high resolution digital images, and most packages include a second shooter. I offer heirloom albums and prints as well, but they are an optional add on.
Yes, albums range from $800-1,500. Parent Albums or 8×8 add on albums are $250 if the couple has already purchased an album.
Depends on the type of session. Usually $15 and up. For Engagement sessions with no package purchased they are $50 each.
This is a hard question because retouching means different things to different people. All of the images I deliver are edited: color corrected, exposure adjusted, cropped, and light blemish removal in a few images. I shoot in a way that flatters the skin, so touch ups are not necessary. Extensive retouching would be removing backgrounds, extensive blemish removal, and body or wardrobe manipulation: this is not included in the digital image delivery. However, I do retouch items that are printed in my studio or that are requested to be retouched in the album.
Yes, about 5% of the photos I deliver are converted to black and white. I LOVE color but I admire a good black and white image when there is a strong emotion to convey or a composition that would be flattered by a monotone color scheme.
All my clients receive a print release for printing their images after the wedding for their own personal usage. Michelle Marie Photographie retains the copyright to the images. What that means is clients can not sell their images for profit, or submit their images to publications without the consent of the photographer.
All my digital galleries are live for 30 days after being delivered to the client.
There is no travel fee for wedding photography services within 4 hours of St.Louis. If an overnight stay is required, and I do not have local friends or family I can stay with, I charge for a hotel stay.
Yes I carry a million dollars in liability business insurance.
I handle the problem without telling the couple. I don’t want to worry them with anything on their wedding day.
30 days before the wedding.
All payments that are made are non refundable. If a wedding date needs to be postponed for any reason, I work with rescheduling for the new wedding date as best as I can.
